about
Mila Datta is a visual artist with a focus primarily in sculpture. She recently returned from Japan and is now based in Calgary, Alberta. Her sculptures consist of abstracted minimal figures that observe the human condition. Despite the lack of definition in facial features and anatomy, the figures are intentional, emotive and communicative. They are meant to evoke a sense of dialogue, or question. What begins as an observation of behaviour and emotion of others, often shapes into feelings that the artist feels herself, reflecting her own posture and attitude.
